can I replace a/c v-belt with non a/c belt
can I replace a/c v-belt with non a/c belt
Stock 86 lg4 with a/c.My a/c has not worked for years and I have no plans to fix.Belt needs to be replaced, can I just replace with a belt for non-a/c car and route around crank and steering pump pulley,or is it a different belt?I see no need to turn the compressor if im not using it.thanks

You should be able to do that. As long as the belt is the correct size and length you should be good to go. My car didnt have the compressor/AC so I'm assuming the previous owner installed a non AC belt.

now that ive thought about it-how would the belt be adjusted/tightened if not around the a/c that has the adjustment slots. The power steering pump doesn't,or does it?

Good question. I never actually looked into that since I haven't changed the belt out.
