What is this thing leaking all my oil!? HELP

So yesterday i checked my oil and my oil marked empty.. i thought it was my valve covers but upon closer inspection today i found this thing on the back of my intake which im assuming is an oil pressure switch/sending unit although im not 100%.

I turned on the car and immediately the switch started dripping oil constantly from the little black fitting.

Heres a picture of what im talking about, what can i do to stop the leaking? Should i remove the switch completely? it doesnt seem to be connected and my oil pressure gauge doesnt work, so i dont know if theres some sort of correlation but there doesn't seem to be a plug anywhere near the switch. Is it common for these things to leak? Im not too familiar with this car yet since i bought it a couple of days ago. Any help appreciated.

I would just replace it. They are not expensive.

That is the oil sending unit, and yes it needs to be replaced. There should be an orange and a brown wire that attach to a single plug that would go to the end of the sending unit. Probably fell behind back of the block or could be back behind the drivers side head.

Hope you took it off and took it with you to parts store - there's a dozen diferent "oil pressure" gadgets available for these cars, and odds are the counter-person will hand you the wrong one.
