Leaking Fuel Pump?
I went to change my fuel filter today, so I removed the line from the discharge side of the filter first and let the fuel drain from the line into a pan. After that line was done draining, I let the filter drain for a while as well. It had a small stream of fuel coming out, steady stream, but just barely more than a continuous drip. It didn't seem to be stopping so I went ahead and removed the line from the inlet side of the filter. After removing the filter completely, I let the fuel line from the tank drain some more, figuring whatever was left in the line would come out and be done.
However, the line never stopped flowing fuel. It was the same amount, just enough to be a steady stream, any less and it would have been a fast drip. I went ahead and put the new filter in with fuel running down my arm. Once connected, all good.
So here's my question, shouldn't the fuel have stopped coming out of the line from the tank? Is the fuel pump going bad? I don't remember fuel coming out continuously last time I did the filter, but it has been a while. The pump is about 15 years old with 50k miles or so. I don't remember when I did the filter, its been a few years, but not that many miles.
Is this normal?

Nope. Siphons the gas out the tank. As long as theres gas in the tank, itll keep flowing out of the open line. Even worse with an aftermarket pump. Its like a deluge when I take my filter off. It just pours out like a faucet.

Thanks for the info. I just don't remember that from last time. Don't really want to deal with a failed fuel pump, knock on wood....
