Re: Vortech heads ???
Vortech doesn't make heads for trucks, as far as I know... they make centrifugal superchargers.
The GM tradename is "Vortec".
The heads you are looking for came on 96-2000 350s. The ones that came on 305s are not the same.
A pick-n-pull isn't the best place to find highly sought-after parts like that. The yard employees will beat you to them every time. Best way to find them is to find a junkyard out in the country or something, that specializes in TRUCKS. Farm trucks, construction trucks, utility co. trucks, etc. Some retail shopping-mall thing like a pick-n-pull might be good for interior parts for common vehicles, but not so much for the heads that EVERYBODY is trying to score.

Re: Vortech heads ???
Intake valves are the typical stock 350 size; 1.94".
They are 64cc nominal but factory casting consistency being what it is, they vary quite a bit... from head to head, and from cyl to cyl on the same head. Not as bad as 60s & 70s heads but still a long way from accurate. Most seem to be a bit on the smallish side, maybe 62-64 or so on average.
Sounds like the junkyard d00d was talking about the 4.8 / 5.3 / 6.0 motors that have been in trucks since around 2000. Doesn't interchange with the 350 you have.
Since GM has started slapping that word - the new "V" buzzword, replacing "Vette" as the most commonly abused buzzword for the purpose of raising the price for commonplace items when sold to wide-eyed young "enthusiasts" - on about EVERY engine they make, just asking for parts off of vehicles that say that on the motor is probably a waste. Go find a junkyard that specializes in TRUCKS out in the woods and fields somewhere away from the shopping malls, and with your own physical eyeballs, LOOK for 96-2000 trucks. Calling boneyards on the phone is futile. There's no TELLING what kind of BS you'll get fed that way. Worse yet, if you utter that word to theguy behind the counter, he'll AUTOMATICALLY INSTANTLY identify you as a starry-eyed n00b hot-rodder, and will charge you the extra special today only just for you because I like you (IIRC you're female? if so that makes this even more likely) cover charge, IF they even have what you want.
The way to buy those heads is to find a TRUCK junkyard as described above; walk in the front door; tell em you want to look on the yard for some engine parts; if they ask, tell em you have a 97 pickup that suddenly started getting water in the oil and you need to fix it because it's {harvest time, got a roof to put on, gotta take care of the lawns, gettin ready for plowin season} or whatever other WORK related excuse you can plausibly pull off. DO NOT utter the magic "V" buzzword; DO NOT let out a hint that you know the casting #s; DO NOT talk about how much power they make or which ones are "better". You gotta convincingly project the image that you have a WORK TRUCK that you are repairing.
So, you walk up to th ecounter, tell em you want heads for a 97 pickup with a 5.7, they bring you .... something. If they aren't 906 or 062 casting, tell em you don't want em. If they tell you "they're just as good" or "book says they'll fit" or some other mealy-mouth excuse as to why they should give you whatever THEY want instead of what YOU want, mutter incomprehensibly about "they don't look the same not sure they'll fit my truck" or that sort of thing. Point to the intake bolt holes, the "shape" cast onto the end, the shape of the chambers, ANYTHING BUT the casting #, and tell em it's not the same as YOUR TRUCK and you want THE SAME as what your truck has. Don't take whatever schlock they throw at you. Make em keep bringing out heads until you get what you want.
Remember: you're fixing your WORK TRUCK, you ARE NOT a hot-rodder, you WILL NOT utter the word "Vortec", you WILL NOT get all excited, you WILL NOT talk about which heads are "better", you WILL NOT let on that you know the casting #s. ANY of those things will cost you EXTRA MONEY.

I agree with post #6.
And to the OP, why the hell did you list your transmission as a 700R4 with overdrive? I mean, really?
