Weird starting problem that just started.

I have an 86 IROC that I put a new 350 in. When I start it up for the first time, it starts no problem and fires right up. If I drive around for awhile and shut it off, it won't start, it will crank over but will not fire. If I let it sit for 5-10 minutes it will fire right up. I'm not sure if this might be a starter problem. Any suggestions, cuz this is a pain when I drive down the street to fill up and I have wait to start my car. Thanks for your help.

If you got crank, starter should be find. Sounds like a fuel issue. When mine did the same thing turned out to be the "Fuel pump relay". Luckily it was that and not the pump........

So why waiting the 5-10 minutes, it will fire right up? It's getting fuel, it's just got that sluggish crank when it first does it, the I wait and it fires right up.

You didn't say sluggish crank at first... When it's running what's your volt meter showing?

You might have to insulate your starter from exhaust heat, what are you running headers or what.
