Put new fuel pump on. (turns on it works)
Got a new alternator (old alternator's bearing was going bad).
very close to finishing. The alternator pulley is hitting that brace for some reason and I'm trying to adjust it.

Well, if you don't have success with that, check out the fuel pressure regulator. Those go out and leak, you can smell gasoline fumes under the hood. Plus, it won't hold enough pressure to the injectors and they (injectors) are very sensitive that way. (They absolutely have to have enough pressure or it won't work.) Also it could be a fuel injector. And sometimes when the fuel pump relay is bad and the oil pressure sensor goes out at the same time, it can cut off too. Something about how the oil pressure sensor is like a back up circuit link if the fuel pump relay goes out - they designed it that way to get you home in a pinch. I'm not a a mechanic, just sharing some things that I've run into while working on mine. Mine turned out to be a bad injector.

definately sounds like a mickey mouse job. not you but the previous owner. tpi uses high pressure and the proper pump should be installed. sounds like a carbed car swapped over.

It is linked in between the fuel rails underneath the plenum and runners.

Re: 85 Iroc broke down had to get towed
Can't believe its almost been a month ....wtf.
anyhow I got my new alternator installed and no cigar. I am getting no fuel pressure fml.
Battery is not dead. Getting 11.8 volts.
Fuel Pump is turning on
Getting spark
Getting voltage to my fuel injectors.
No fuel is getting through my lines....I hope its just a blockage (or maybe I tightened the hoses too tight on the fuel pump if thats possible?) or something simple. Not another faulty fuel pump.
I has the worst of luck.
edit: also have still not checked fuel pressure regulator. Something else I need to learn about.

Disconnect your fuel line at the fuel rail. Get a gallon pail or gas can. Turn on your key to activate your pump, fuel should spray out at however many PSI your pump/regulator is set to. If it doesn't, thenyou've got a blockage in the fuel line.
An alternative method is to use an air compressor and blow air back down the line toward the tank. You should hear bubbling in the tank. do this for both the return line and main feed line. Should hear bubbling in the tank if they are clear.
IF you hear bubbling, then both lines are clear and your issues are from the fuel rails to the motor.

Re: 85 Iroc broke down had to get towed
Thanks for your help ozz. I am getting absolutely no fuel pressure and there isn't any blockages...another defect fuel pump.
Anyhow I guess this is a sign. I had my car towed off to a mechanic and requested to get a in-tank fuel pump and this thing wired to the relay. I wanna get this thing properly hooked up the way it needs to be. Maybe all these defect parts were a sign. At least I tried
thanks for your help fellas.

Re: 85 Iroc broke down had to get towed
replace the battery, if its tpi check the regulator and hook up your gauge to the schrader test port on the fuel rail at this time then key the ignition to have the pump pressurized in lines if the filter in line is clogged or pinched as you indicated check the run and see if you have a kinked or manipulated line, if you have pressure at the rail you have fuel pressure your regulator could be bad also that pump requires at least 12 v to operate properly i know from current draw how many electrical apparatus items can burn under loading voltage specs and creates a strain on components.
check these items...
