"bolt ons"

Hello..

I've done a few bolt ons over the few weeks and was wondering what to expect from them..

From the front back.. (basically stock-aside from bolt on)
-Gutted air cleaner box w/ K&N filters
-SLP intake runners (still not on)
-Long tube Hedman Headers 1 5/8 w/ 3" collector
-"Custom Y-pipe" (custom because i did my self) meets behihind trans pan into 3" pipe down to the flowmaster (dummy dual)
-B&M shift kit w/ 3200 stall converter
-3:73 posi rear end
-PCMFORLESS chip tuned to my mods-

Any help would be appreciated ..
Ive read that a good running L98 makes 210whp
I'm thinking somewhere along +70-80hp w/ mods not sure though

Re: "bolt ons"

Was your car tuned local or mail order? If mail order take it out and put your stock chip back in. It'll prolly run better..

Re: "bolt ons"

You may get lucky tho. My 350 car has always been faster with the factory chip instead of "canned tunes"

210rwhp would indeed = a "good running L98" That is correct, IME.
As for your "+70-80hp"...that is a bit optimistic. REALLY optimistic, I feel.
*Air box: Maybe a few hp
*SLP runners? Basically nothing. 5hp maybe? By changing those you only improved part of the actual runner. The rest of the runner is in the lower intake and it is unchanged...therefore, where your greatest restriction is. The SLP runners augment a base change or port job. By themselves, they don't do much.
*Headers and Exhaust, 20-30hp there possibly. Muffler my be hurting you though.
*Shift kit and converter = nothing at the wheels. Actually a possible loss at the wheels on a dyno, but likely faster at the strip.
*3.73 gear = nothing on the dyno. Drag track results vary, but I've seen stickish TPI cas slow down at the track with gear due to the fact that the engine won't rev.
*"Canned" chip: as has been stated, I too have seen canned chips slow cars down. Depends on the combo and tune, whether they align or not.

I'm going to say that you may have picked up 30 total, so far.
