tapping at 2k rpm

Axle/Gears: 3.73
tapping at 2k rpm

hey guys i have a 305ho that i recently installed some comp cams roller rockers into and i get a tapping at 2000 rpms i tightened all of the rockers correctly and i still am having the same problem. it sounds like a rocker arm but it not getting any better or worse. what else could it be?

If you messed with the exhaust, check your exhaust from the heads to the cats.

i never had any problems with the stamped rockers after the exhaust was put in just the roller rockers now are giving me problems

double check that they were self centering, you may have a lash issue or a exhaust leak. If these are not self centering and you are not running guide plates you may have already bent some pushrods and you can bent valves.

Sorry what i ment was an exhaust leak near the heads will give you a tapping noise. Check the roller tips, might have a bad tip.

how do i check the tips, just make sure they are moving?

alright ill check on those once i get home should have i been running guid plates anyways?

To run guide plates you will need hardened pushrods and pull the rocker arm studs and tap the heads for screw in studs and machine the rocker arm stud boss. Self aligning rocker arms would be a better way for you to go than removing the heads.
