Help me build a 350
Help me build a 350
The motor is going in my 80 T/A. I've got a 3970010 block with 333882 heads on it. From looking at it its never been rebuilt or the oil changed in it. It ran good just puffed smoke at WOT. I want a good streetable motor that will have some good kick to it. I'd like to at least have a 13 second car in the end. What will I need to do to the 350 to get there? I'll be running a 350 Turbo and 3.42s

Those 882's need to go in the trash. Get a set of vortec heads and upgrade the springs.

Get a mild cam like that one... and get yourself a decent converter to match it (DON'T GO CHEAP ON A CONVERTER!). Match it with an Edelbrock dual plane for the Vortec heads. And yes, that is a solid flat tappet cam. If you want a hydraulic flat I've still got mine brand new I can sell to you.. it's a XE274 which will also work fine for your application. I went to a solid flat from Bullet Cams so I no longer need it.
The heads are the most important part, though. Those 882's are terrible. Worst $100 doorstop I ever bought.
