another evap can question. Is the right?

I want to remove the charcoal can from my car and i'm just making sure I have this right. The line from the tank needs to have a filter on it right? What about the little valve between the line and the canister? If I have a filter then would I need a vented cap too? Or what would happen if I just remove the carb side to get rid of all the other vacuum lines and put a breather in place of the PCV?

Yes, you probably want to put a filter on the line from the tank. I don't have one on mine but then I don't really let any dust settle on my car. As far as the PCV goes. You can just cut a hose to fit between the PCV valve and the carb and delete the rest of the mess. You can also go with a breather and have no PCV but it doesn't really make much difference on a stock motor.

Awesome thank you. Do you know what kind of filter would fit in that line? I also wanted to take the line that would have the filter on it and run it towards the rear of the car, just somewhere out of the engine bay.

I have mine looped and pointed towards the ground at the front of the car. Where you direct it is up to you. An inline fuel filter either 1/4 or 5/16 inch, whichever fits the hose, will work fine. You can run a vented cap if you want to, though the open purge line will also serve as a vent.
