Re: Helpp Map sensor

Your car was designed with a MAF sensor. It would be between the throttle body and the air filter housing. Some genius may have deleted it thinking they would make more power. Maybe someone tried to install a cold air intake. Or maybe the MAF failed and instead of replacing it, they just deleted it. Code 34 isn't just for a MAP sensor, on MAF cars it's a MAF sensor code(MAF low g/s air flow). It's the very code you will get when the MAF is disconnected or removed.

Disconnecting the MAF will put the fuel system in default(Memcal) mode and it will run on a default fuel map using throttle position as a reference. A car with no other issues will run okay this way. Disconnecting the MAF and running the car to check for normal running is a commonly used test for a faulty MAF sensor. So, what this means, is that you probably need a MAF sensor or at least to diagnose the MAF system to pinpoint the cause of the MAF code. Then, you need to figure out what else is wrong that the car isn't running without the MAF. You have an EGR code. Maybe the EGR valve is stuck open. Maybe the fuel pressure regulator diaphram is ruptured causing the rich condition. Could be a shorted O2 sensor or a faulty engine coolant temp sensor.
