2nd series or 3rd series rearend?

How can ya tell what rearend you got? I need to know, I'm buying a set of gears for my rearend out of a 87 camaro RS. Thanks

Check your SPID sticker or pull the cover.

Pull the cover and look on the edge of the gear, should be stamped with the gear size.

Ok cool, Thanks. Series 2 is 3:23 or higher correct? I'm looking at buying 4:56 gears..

That's a great site with alot of info. Count the cover bolts, could be a 9 bolt or 10 bolt.
