Selling 3rd gen.. Wanting to buy 1st gen
I dont know to much about 1st gens. So was looking for some info and opinions. Ive heard the fenders changed in69. And the 68 had side markers. But is there any body changes or tail light changes, also are the front bumpers different at all? And last is there a particular year thats the most desirable?

First of all, it's great that you are interested in the firstgen cars. They are what started most of us down the road of F-body obsecession. Do some research on the web to get an idea of what you're getting yourself into. Remember, knowledge is power. Wikipedia has a long writeup on the firstgens. If you are interested in owners opinions, then go to carsurvey.org. There aren't too many writeups, in fact only one for 1967, but it's better than nothing. At the age of 55, I wasn't quite old enough to buy one of them new, and the '69 was four years old when I got my license. It was a popular first car in the early seventies because the price had dropped and gas prices were going up. You will hear it from many on this board who have owned first and second gens that the thirdgen handles much better than any of the earlier models. And rightfully so, newer cars should be better than their predecessors. I don't know if you are going to use a firstgen as a daily driver, but if so, I don't think it will take much time before you'll want your thirdgen back. I was always drooling over the '69 models but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you are serious and find one you consider purchasing, let the owner give you a ride in it and if possible you should test drive it. Don't go into this like a lovestruck teen. Do the homework, know what you want for a drivetrain and options, then go look for that car.

1967

1968

69 was a radical departure. Compare the shapes of the fenders. 67 and 68 are rounded, the 69s have body lines to accent them. The 69 also has a much better looking grille.

I think you'll miss your thirdgen too. 69s are the most sought after, they're the most aggressive looking. But 3rd gens will mop the floor with them in the handling department, even after they're heavily modded. The first gens and third gens weight about the same, so they dont have any real advantage there either.

Loved my 67 rs more than any other car ive had. You can make them handle like they are on rails real real easy.
