Winters coming need to drain water out of motor help..

I built a new motor this summer droped it in the car during the fall and havent got it running yet im worried i wont be able to get it running by the time its freezing day and night, i put all water in the block and radiator no anti freeze at all was told to do that incase theres leaks its easier to clean up. Im now worried about cracking the block if a freeze plug doesnt push out is there any way i can drain all of the water outta the block so i can put a 50/50 mix in threw the water neck to replace it... im think i have 3 weeks before its freezing 24/7

There are two drain plugs on the block. One on each side, center bottom, near the pan rail. The passenger side will have the knock sensor in it, the drivers side has a standard pipe plug in it.

The freeze plugs aren't there to save an engine in the event of the coolant freezing. They are there to plug the holes from having to hold the cores in place while the block is being cast.

You can also drain it most of the way out from the radiator valve, put in concentrated antifreeze and run the motor to mix it with the water.

Um, the block drain plugs? Being a new engine they should be easy to remove.

If it cranks, drain all you can out, fill it with coolant and then crank it a few times. That will flow some of the coolant through. It may not be ideal, but it wont hurt to do.
