Which flexplate?

I'm building a new Dart 400 SHP, which flexplate (153 or 168) is preferable? I know about the starter business but if I were to choose are there any advantages or disadvantages to one over the other?

Thanks

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: Which flexplate?

Not really.

Main difference would be, clearance between the starter and headers; which will be better with the 12.8" than the 14".

Re: Which flexplate?

in theory, the bigger ring gear will give the starter a little more leverage- which might matter if you run a lot of compression and initial ignition timing- and the smaller one will crank it over just a little faster...

in reality, it doesn't really matter... i'd run the smaller one for starter clearance..
