instrument panel gauges
Hay everyone,
Just wanna say this is my first post on this form. My stock engine temperature gauge has been stuck pointing way up like as if it was very hot and all the other gauges worked fine. Now when I went to work today the oil pressure gauge is stuck way up like how the other gauge was. Now the engine temperature gauge is working. Did anyone have this problem?

Re: instrument panel gauges
You have a wiring issue and this should be in the electronics area. Most likely the gauge which works of a 0-90 ohm resistance is touching something or the pins on the gauge connector for the gauge cluster are touching. Just off the top of my head.

Re: instrument panel gauges
Temp gauge all the way high = wire is shorted to ground (sometimes disconnected from the sending unit and laying on the exhaust or something, sometimes just a bare spot in the wire where it's damaged laying up against something)
Oil pressure gauge all the way high = wire is merely disconnected
None of this is specific to Camaro, F-body, or even GM. It's just the way the gauges work.
Check out the wires, I'm sure the problem won't be hard to spot. Never is.
