What is this hole?!?!

I was looking around for an oil leak that gushes out when I crank the motor over and I think it's coming from the hole to the upper left of the oil filter adapter. Should I plug this hole or does it connect to something?? It looks like it's right across from a valve that I guess is for oil bybass but im not sure. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

I removed it along with the filter adapter to find the source of the leak

Is the hole threaded , the pic above appears to show a pipe plug (NPT ) sealing it ?

Is this a V6? my 3.1 has the Oil pressure sending unit threaded in right there.

That is the pic you should have put up 1st with the hole dentified.

As noted ,does the hole have a plug in it?
If it does ,take it out , clean it and the hole well , then use some thread sealer on the plug when you reinstall it tight

yes this is a 2.8l v6. If the oil pressure sending unit is the thing that has an electrica; connector on it then its on the housing that i removed. The hole is not plugged and am 95% sure it is threaded. Thanks

Re: What is this hole?!?!

Its just a Port to the oil passage....... if theres nothing that needs to be plugged in there. Then go ahead and plug the hole. Simple enough. Plugging it wont do anything but let the engine Recirculate the oil and allow the pump to build pressure like its suppose to....
