Charging/starting issue
hello all, i have an issue today that i would like to see what it can be. i have a 92 camaro and it has a swapped in 350 carb'd motor. the harness is of course cut up! when i bought the car the fan was basically wired into the ignition, so every time i started the car it was on. i fixed that by simply wiring in the fan switch on the passenger head between the 6 and 8 exhaust port. i tested it and it seems to be working fine ( grounded out the wire going to the switch and i hear the relay "click" and the fans starts ).
i was/am having a starting issue before this as the battery was not able to let the car crank correctly, and it took forever for it to start. after fixing the fan the starter still feels the same pretty much it turns a little kinda stops turns some more kinda stops then finally the motor starts. well i figured it was the battery so i took it out had it re-charged and had advance ( yeah i know great machines ) test the alternator. both tested okay but the battery was completely drained, charged it installed it same deal with the starter. and on top of all that the battery is drained again. car sits for about 2 weeks with me starting it at least once a week and driving it around a little. so in other words HELP!!!! only other thing i did was wire in the light on the hood, should that always be plugged in? as i close the hood ( probably a little more then half way closed ) the light turns off.
other info to consider: serpentine setup, no A.I.R. pump so it has the re-routed belt. red wire going from the back of the alternator goes to a piece of plastic that has the fan fusible link on it then goes to the battery via another cable ( seems odd to me ) can take pics of anything if needed, i just wanna figure this out
