Does the pump turn on when you turn the key forward to prime the motor (if so, oil pressure sensor). Otherwise, look into the pump harness

no, the pump wont prime, i forgot to add "does not" in my post lol by "pump harness" do you mean the entire sending unit in the tank? i inspected that before i put the tank back in and all the connections seemed to be ok. do yall think it could be something outside the tank?

The link I posted has a step by step diagnosis of the most typical problems. Read it and go through it. You'll likely find your issue.

If I recall, unplug the FP Relay, and the outside two pins...jump them...that should turn on the pump...now before that, check the fuse up front by the radiator, off the battery...big looking thing (on my Iroc) and make sure it's good.

Sure hope you didn't go through all the trouble to change a pump for a blown fuse, if so, I owe ya a beer for your agony

Re: New fuel pump, still won't run help!

Look for the fuse up by the front of the engine.
My 89 iroc, has a fuse up by the battery mounted in a weather pack all by itself.
I know Pontiac has battery on other side vs camaro. So not sure what side it would be on. But that blown fuse will cause it not to prime also.
I had to remove battery and move the fan relay to find mine.

Just noticed mike mentioned same thing lol but yea find that fuse and see if it's bit the dust

i appreciate all the advice guys, been held up due to breaking the line off to my fuel filter while changing it, car sat outside 7 years, every single nut n bolt is froze up regardless of how much pb blaster i use lol i got a look in the engine bay and i found the fuse you mentioned mounted to the body between the coolant tank and battery and have yet to remove it, can anyone tell me what this fuse actually controls btw?

Have you tried to apply 12 volts to terminal g of the Aldl. That is the fuel pump test terminal

Re: New fuel pump, still won't run help!

np ,man i had a similar issue one time. i was changing out the oil pressure sender down by the filter. the wrench slipped and i thought i saw a slight spark from somewhere. it was at that point i decided to unhook the battery lol. anyhow finished up changing out the sender. went to start the car and it wouldnt fire off. noticed the fuel pump wouldnt humm when turned the key on. I figured no way a bad pump all a sudden i had just changed it not long before.
turned out that fuse by the battery had blown. I guess whatever i touched under there popped it when something sparked. Put new fuse in and presto, turn the key on and fuel pump hummed and started right up.
So lesson learned in all this....no matter how simple a project i tackle i unhook battery first lol. short of an oil change or something

As stated before definitely check the inline fuse by the battery.
