How much would you pay for a L98
Ok fellas been a while since Ive been on here. Anyways just picked up an 86 Camaro with a blown carbd 305. I'm looking on craigslist and found a L98 350 out of a 91 z28 for sale. Guy says it had 110k miles on it and was running fine. Problem is its already been pulled out so cant hear it run. Its just the block and heads the whole TPI system has been removed and is listed for sale separate. Im staying carbd so no need for it anyways. Soo how much would you guys say is a fair offer price for it?

Bought my L98 from a 1989 IROC for $350. Just the short block, 083 heads, pistons, crank, cam. I thought that was a little high but fair

Between 300-750, depending what comes with it. If it comes complete, in good shape with ecm and all, it might be worth close to 1000. short block 250, heads 200, cam 25-50, intake and wiring with fuel rails, 200, ecm and wires 100-200, depending on condition.

I'd be hesitant to spend more than $300-$350 on it if it is for what only is pictured.. chances are you will want to do some work to it instead of just slapping it in correct? probably should checkout/replace gaskets, oil pump, bearings, head gasket, valve stem seals, etc, etc.. things start to add up fast if you want to do it right.. the cheaper you can get it for, the better.. sad thing is.. you don't even know what the compression is in the cylinders.. I bought a used engine once, told it was running and then found out that 3 of the cylinders were shot..

Could have life left in it or be shot at 110k
Id pay core value, no more.
Call me paranoid but theres only one or two reasons to pull a motor
Either he did an upgrade or its got issues..or both.
