What do you think?

I have a 305 with Lunati Roller cam, vortec heads, Summit Vortec Carb Intake, Edlebrock 650 Carb, and Hedman Longtube Headers.

The 305 runs, but I eventually plan to pull it for a 350 when the time comes. That's why I got the vortec heads, intake, carb, cam, and long-tube that would swap over to a 350.

Is this block what I would want? The auction says 87-95 but for FI?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Remanufactured-Chevy-5-7-350-Short-Block-87-95-Roller-/260665716725?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cb0e32ff5&vxp=mtr
If not, point me in the correct direction.

Re: What do you think?

Yeah that's what your after. It's a roller cam, 1 pc rear main seal 350. It will work as a carb'ed engine... The fuel pump pushrod hole may not be drilled in the block and force you to run an elec. fuel pump, but that's the only thing I can think of.

Not a bad price either but I would want to know what brand parts are used in it. Also you will need to call them and get it with flat top pistons, as those dish pistons will kill your compression.

Also talk to them to see what deck height and piston compression height on pistons used.. You want 0 deck to no more than .025" in the hole with the pistons.

Some of the cheap re builder's pistons has a compression height that puts piston .030, .035, .040" in the hole

Re: What do you think?

Thank you - Yes I would deff call before just ordering on a whim. I also do believe you can change to flat tops, he has all kind of options in the description, I think you can even pick your compression ratio you want. What would I want for my setup?

Like I said I have a Lunati VooDoo cam, but I don't know the specs, I have Vortec heads, Summit Hirise vortec intake, Headman Longtube's with 3" exhaust, and Edlebrock 650 Carb.

Re: What do you think?

I would keep it between 9.5 and 10.1 It also depends on cam too but those are safe numbers for just about any cam.
