fly wheel/torque converter making ticking sounds.

Just this past weekend I deleted my air injection system mostly because of all the exaust leaks it had..now im hearing a tick or knock from around the flywheel area. I replaced a lot of the vaccume lines that were bad including the shift module on my 1978 305 CID engine. Is there other vaccume lines I missed? Also I bought a new edlebrock air cleaner what do I do with the vac lines coming from the trans moduelator and the one from behind at the bottom of carb can I plug any especially the 2 nipple one on the intake manifold.

Pull the inspection cove and make sure the flex plate bolts are tight and look for cracks in the flexplate.A ticking sound cold be a exhaust leak as well.

Re: fly wheel/torque converter making ticking sounds.

Does this have an exhaust heat riser on the passenger side? They will do that sometimes, especially if vacuum to them is low or shaft is sticking.

Re: fly wheel/torque converter making ticking sounds.

A loose torque converter bolt will do it.
I bought one a while back cheap due to this. Man was selling it as "runs but engine knocks" I looked at it and it sure enough knocked but only in drive or R, not in park.

I bought it, got time to mess with it, got under the car and checked the converter bolts, 2 was loose. Tightened them and the knock in gear went away.

Also a cracked flexplate will do it.

Exhaust leak at the rear or bottom will too
