So Im looking for a roller cam(s). I have 350 tpi motor (two of them) with minor mods done (shorty headers,chip etc). I don't want a radical aftermarket cam.I want smooth idle and performance.I like junk yard shopping on the cheap.So a used oem roller camshaft seems the way to go. I know a 87 -92 TPI cam will work but harder to find used .I herd a LT1 cam will work.How about a truck 96-99 vortec camshaft ( or same as a LT??). Which oem roller will work in my tpi 350?

 

Most stock cams are too small to give any real performance gains. I would think the stock LT4 (not LT4 hot cam) would be about the biggest..

Stock L98 and LT1-4 are 2close to worry about. The LT4 gets bigger numbers because of the 1.6 roller rockets GM used.

 

Thanks for the info however Im not really concerned with spec's right now.I just wanted to know what oem roller would physically interchange with a 89 sbc that originally came equipped with a roller camshaft. I wasnt sure if LT1 or LT4 or Vortec truck cams could be installed

 

Stay away from the truck cams if you can, they will interchange but may not be what you want.
