Summit CD Ignition problem

i have ordered this kit: http://www.summitracing.com/int/part...2750/overview/

installed all like manual says, car starts and runs but it pops thru exhaust, the higher the RPM the more pops comes, sometime stops popping afrer about 3500-4000RPM, no idea what to do with it to make it run properly, any ideas?

Re: Summit CD Ignition problem

Was the car running fine before the install?
Have you triple checked the firing order?
How do the spark plugs look?

firing order as normal 18436572, checked whole system on two cars and same effect, spark plugs ok, when i tried to set timing it goes right ok to 19deg and then jumps to over 40deg, same effect on both cars, timing lamp is working ok.

Re: Summit CD Ignition problem

This is just a hypothesis, but I wonder if your base timing is off. The ignition box fires multiple sparks below 3,000 RPM, and one spark above that. Could it be that the one spark event is close to the correct timing and one of the multiple events is not? Either way, they do have a tech support line for those boxes.

Re: Summit CD Ignition problem

Stupid question but, you do have the vacuum advance plugged when setting base timing, correct?
