forged crank and rods ID or markings

Looking at a chevy 355 short block for sale. Sucks there is no paper work for it but guy is telling me it is a scat steel crank and rods. The pistons are hyper flat tops. Is there any markings on the nose of crank or if I pull oil pan any way of telling if rods are forged? It is a 880 roller factory roller block with factory spider and he is saying it has about 1800 miles on it. There is still some crosshatch marks in cylinders. All he had was the cam specs 252 comp XE. I know it sounds creepy. But I really have no reason not to believe him yet. Thanks for any help. Respect.
