'90 Camaro RS V6 is running rough

My 1990 Chevrolet Camaro won't start and when it does it runs really rough for about 5 minutes and then dies. the error code that I pulled off the computer is Error Code 15. I replace the coolant sensor and figured that would fix the problem. I'm still having the same issue. the car will start about half the time and when it does it runs really really rough. the other half the time it won't even start. I don't know what else to do except take it to a dealer and I really don't want to do that. anybody have any advice?

Get a fuel pressure tester (you can rent one from autozone) it should be 35-39 while running, 42-45 with key on engine off. It should hold pressure too.

It holds 40-42 with the key off.

Does the code still come back? If so, do a continuity check between both cts sensor wires & the ecm. You'll need a diagram for the connector wire locations.

Re: '90 Camaro RS V6 is running rough

I got that code to go away after replacing the sensor. I had another code come up "33" I checked the MAP sensor and fixed that problem and got that code to go away. She will start now but won't stay running. It's almost like she's starving for fue but the fuel pump works. I checked my lines and read 42 pounds of pressure. Any other ideas?

Does it get to the point where it won't start? If yes, then check for spark, fuel press. & injector pulse.

Re: '90 Camaro RS V6 is running rough

If the OEM Multec injectors are still in the engine, replace them. You can measure the resistance of them, needs to be above 11 ohms. The ones that are below this are causing the running issue.

It fires off but won't stay running. It fires off and runs for about 5 seconds. Then it diesels out.

See if it runs longer when you spray carb cleaner it the throttle body.

Re: '90 Camaro RS V6 is running rough

have you checked and verified ignition timing? incorrect ignition timing is a usual suspect with dieseling (engine continuing to run after it was turned off or died).
