taking off tpi--what to do about fuel rails?

I am about to take the tpi off of my LB9 to port the plenum, siamese the base, and then make it all pretty looking. I'll need to take off or at least disconnect the fuel rails, won't I? What do I do to keep from spilling (the gas will still be a liquid at this point, right?) gas all over the place? Is there a line I need to plug or something like that?

Also, are there any tricks to getting the tpi off and disassembled other than making sure that all the runner bolts are out?

Thanks in advance!

loosen the gas cap (so any pressure still in the tank is releived) and remove the fuel lines at the front of the intake... the fuel may still be under preasure so be careful... I you want, disconnect the connector near the fuel tank and turn the engine over to releive the pressure in the fuel lines... you will still have some liquid fuel running out so have something ready to soak it up...

You don't have to disconnect the fuel rails etc, just where they bolt up near the thermostat. You can pull the entire thing off as one unit...

2 things : LOTS of rags and Disconnect the battery 1st!

It's an easy job. You'll see once you start disassembling.

You can let off the pressure by pushing a screwdriver in the schraader valve. Keep a rag handy because fuel will squirt everywhere. There will still be fuel in the lines when you disconnect them, but at least it won't be under pressure. When I took off my rails I found it easier to disconnect the two rails from each other so I could pull out each rail separately. Since each bank sits at an angle it didn't want to come straight out. And on mine I had to pull pretty hard to get them out.
