Hello gents Title describes it brand new battery she only kicks over with jumper cables. Bad starter/starter wire?

 

More likely, bad batt cable(s).

 

Where are you connecting the negative cable?

Starter should have an always hot cable directly from positive terminal on battery to starter terminal.

Negative cable usually grounds to engine block. Its been a while since I had a stock engine so don't remember the exact layout. My LT1 grounded to the accessory bracket, but I changed the grounding location so it was on the head instead.

 

Load test the new battery?

 

I've had similar issues with a bad solenoid.

 

Havent load tested the battery , brake light on dash comes on when trying too fire it . Ive only had it atart by itself twice No security light issue . Cablesat the battery look okay

No, it's the thing that the wires going to the starter connect to on the starter. It's like a $10-15 part. When it starts to fail, a lower voltage will not be enough to make it work. I can't remember the exact specifics, but if you look it up, it's pretty straight forward. It can be a PITA to replace though. It will be under the exhaust manifold on the passenger side. Make sure to disconnect the battery before messing with the wires to it.

 

Starter solenoid? Thats easy enough lol

 

Well after Doing a full brake Job on my Jeep I was preparing too put the GTA back in the garage for giggles i tried firing it without having to Jump it she turned over sputterd died okay nbd hit the key a second time lose all power ... check the pos wire nada wiggle the ground wire? Bingo previous owner being a hack grounded it too the header bolt and left it loose. Well after cranking it a few times with her not starting i let off they key and ws met with quite the backfire I have had boats with straight exhaust on a 454 not be this loud lol.

 

Ill update in the am If it fires over or not ,but for the record I was indeed the battery cables

 

Well im still chasing gremlins,45psi at the fuel rail new ignition starter switch it cranks and sputters but wont start-edit

My ignition starter switch was bad ,rebuilt my distributor and bypassed the vats module with an ebay bypass module 15$ well spent
