Vortec Heads and Other Mods Q's

Wondering if someone can steer me in the right direction. I am looking at some basic bolt on mods for my 1987 IROC-Z 350 TPI.
I am thinking Vortec Heads, Hooker Headers and a Chip.
With the Heads installed do I have to do any cam work or change valves or anyting else?
Heres the link to the Vortec Site, so wondering which are the best for my description. I want something bolt on and reliable. Looking for a little more grunt from the Car.
Thanks

Changing heads would include changing valves they are attached to the heads.

Those 225cc heads would probably be overkill for your stock TPI motor I owuld probably look at the stock 170CC version. Other than that you will need a vortec base for the TPI manifold

If you are converting to a vortec style head, I would go with these.

Re: Vortec Heads and Other Mods Q's

You will also need a Vortec intake. Are you staying with TPI?

Staying with the TPI yes.
This help is greatly appreciated guys. The guy who will be doing the work for me is knowledgeable around these cars, but I know there's a lot of knowledge here and looking for the simplest setup not sacrificing reliability.
The Engine is coming right out so it will make installing the Exhaust headers and heads easier.
Any more info keep it coming!

Re: Vortec Heads and Other Mods Q's

Yup; GOTTA change the base.

All that wonderful intake port flow came from the fact that THEY MOVED IT UPWARDS.

This is what happens when you try to use a typical pre-Vortec intake on Vortec heads.

Drilling the other bolt holes in something won't fix it.

There is exactly ONE TPI intake that will work. Yup that's right, you can count it on ONE finger. It's kinda $$$$$ and still doesn't overcome the disappointing fact that it's still TPI, which in and of itself INHERENTLY TOTALLY DEFEATS the benefits of the heads.

Of course, there are other EFI options besides TPI, ANY of which works AHELLUVALOT better; Stealth Ram, etc.
