scary sounds in the cold

heres the problem :
most of the time there is no problem. but sometimes on a cold day il start my car and il be driving and when i hit about 2200 o rmore rpms i hear a pinging, like a valve tapping. it goes away if the rpms drop down. im not getting any codes and this is the second time i that i can remember hearing it.
i checked the oil, it was fine. it has 10w40 in it, im gona try and oil change to 10w30 and see what happens.
hopefully this will fix it, if not il pull the valve covers and take a look. if anyone has any idea, cause im going on basics here, let me know.
thanks alot
andrew

ONLY in the cold? goes away when the engine heats up? could be "piston slap"

well changed the oil over to 10w30 ant the sound went away, it was probably a combination of the oil and bad gas, so hopefully it is all done with. yey
thanks,
andrew
