82 Z28 throwing codes 13 and 44
82 Z28 throwing codes 13 and 44
I have an unmodified 1982 Camaro Z28 with the 305 carburetor engine. The car only has 3,100 miles. Pristine condition.
Obviously I had to deal with the normal stuff of getting a car to run properly that had been sitting up - rotten vacuum lines, change oil, flush radiator, clean fuel tank, etc.
The car starts up and runs great - no issues. Runs like a brand new car.
However, when it is fully warm and I stop at a traffic light, the "check engine" light comes on and then immediately goes off when I accelerate away when the light turns green.
I bought a ECM reader and got the codes 13 and 44 - left oxygen sensor. I changed out the sensor with a new one.
The light still comes on sporadically and goes out just as quickly. The car is still throwing those same codes (I did disconnect the battery to clear the ECM after I replaced the oxygen sensor).
Anyone have any ideas on what to check next?

The code 44 could be the issue. A lean condition would cause this to throw.other than the new o2 you just replaced . Lean Exhaust, check ECM wiring/connections, vacuum leak at the carburetor base gasket, vacuum hoses, & intake manifold gasket.

If you changed the O2 sensor and still have the issue then you either have an actual lean condition caused by a vacuum leak or a bad ECM (computer) or the wire going from the O2 to the ECM is bad. I had to change the wire on my on 85 LG4.
It's a very simple circuit. Only three parts, O2 sensor, 1 Wire, ECM. Do have a multi meter?
