What am I missing here
I have chevy 305 and I have removed all three bolts that attach the passenger side mount to the frame and removed the center long bolt connecting it to the clamshell. I cannot jack it up at all, the engine jacks up and the whole car goes with it. I even loosened up the driver's side center bolt to maybe make it loosen more. Every time I jack it up the whole car goes with it. i just need that room so i can get the new mount in there but nope. What am i doing wrong? Thanks in advance

Re: What am I missing here
Is this with the front "frame" supported on jack stands well up off of the springs, such as right next to the control arm bolts?

I see what your saying though maybe Jack stands on the frame letting the front suspension drop maybe my issue. Allowing for more clearance, and less work on the jack

Not so much "clearance", as, raising the car up off the springs and supporting it high enough that when you try to poke that 800 lb lump of castings up out of there, the springs don't push the rest of car up to follow it.
The chassis probably needs to be raised at least 3" up off of sitting on the wheels, to accomplish this.
You can be reasonably assured that if you were ACTUALLY "lifting the car" by jacking on the pan, you'd be seeing a crankshaft-shaped dent in the pan, from the inside. It's just sheet metal. You can crush it just by kicking it with yer tennis shoe. You're not "jacking up the car" with that.
