Need Help with sparl plugs!!!! pls
I have a 1988 gta
305 tpi t5 stock
this summer I built a 383 350 with crazy alum heads
I got it running and its kinda missing barly im just trying to break it in slow
the guy who sold me the heads sold me ac delco 41-602 spark plugs which are in it now
I think they are the wrong ones
I have the plugs out of my 305 cast iron heads and they are R45TS 8 clean new less than a year ago
my hanynes manual says 1988 and on aluminum heads are AC FR5LS
now i just want to know if they guy sold me the wrong plugs because he was a idiot or if it was a mistake
i just want to know what is a ac delco plug that i can just go buy over the counter
also i bought new 8mm summit wires 1 mointh ago
and my dist cap and rotor is 2 years old it had some carbon but i just resued it
no engine lights
and i had the chip reburned for the 383 setup
timing is 8 DEG
maybe i shold just buy a new cap and rotor
or get new diff plugs
im not going away from delco

Re: Need Help with sparl plugs!!!! pls
As long as the plugs fit the heads (tapered plugs or gasket plugs) they're the right plugs. The main differences are in the heat ranges but an incorrect heat range won't cause miss unless they're too cold and fouling the plugs or too hot and have melted the plugs.
First thing I would confirm is the firing order. Plug rotation on the cap is clockwise and the firing order is 18436572. It's very easy to mix 5 and 7 up. The engine will still run but will have a miss.

Next thing to do is, look up the specs for whatever heads you have, and find out what plugs they require.
There's more to heads than just "aluminum". Or, what plugs some other heads required. Or for that matter, the year model of the sheet metal that happens to be wrapped around them.
No guarantees you can buy whatever plugs your heads need, in AC/Delco.
