New exhaust question
New exhaust question
I just had my exhaust repaired because i added the spohn sub frame connectors and the guy removed my 3" y pipe and installed a custom fit 2.5" did this screw up my car? He said he had to do it for clearance because he had to lower the cat because the sub bar attached under it. THe bar is between the cat and the heat shield. It is alot diffrent sound now i have an 80 series flowmaster edelbrock headers then 2.5'" y to 3" to muffler then 2.5 out.

What size y-collector is it? That's more important than the 2.5" pipes.
And who the hell does he think he is tearing off your 3" y-pipe??!!!!!!!
The way you worded it, did you install the SFCs or did he?
If he did, then he should be a little more ingenious than that!!!!! He could have modified the SFCs to work around the exhaust. Or modified the pipe to work around them.
Actually what he should've done is check with you first!!!!!
I'd be screaming like hell in his shop tomorrow!!!!!! He can't just take **** off your car and replace it with something that's not as good, without you knowing about it first.
I don't know about Cali, but that's not legal in IL.

EDIT BTW; I love the color of your car!!!!! And those stipes look great on that hood!!!!! I've seen a couple of other cowl hoods with stripes like that on them, but they gotta be done just right. And you did it/had it done the right way. The stripes follow the cowl on the hood instead of the body lines.
You be Stylin'!!!

Smack that b!tch up, if he's told to install the connectors that is what he is to do! Not touch your exhaust!! I dunno what you could do, but I would probably suggest talking wit whoevers at the top, and be strict as hell!!! You're the customer, and the worker is your b!tch, customer is always right, be pissed!
--by the way I was thinking of getting SFCs, that makes me wonder what they might do to my car (but my bro in law works at the place, so they might not do that, but hey if they did do that I'd still smack my bro in law and those b!tch coworkers up). And I even looked at the Spohn's on their website, they say they have the kit comes with connectors that run from rear to front on passenger and driver side. And they also come with additional not neccesarily needed connectors, that connect on the SFCs to the transmission frame area. Which I'm sure are the ones that were in the way. But they come NON welded for clearance issues, so you could put them so they could clear your Cat and everything. Oh and I'm curious maybe you ordered the Dual Cat SFCs for your Single Cat, or if you have Duals, maybe ya ordered the Single Cat SFCs. Which ever way thats not right!!! If he changed your exhaust while he should have been doing SFCs, I wonder what else he did...
Oh man I got a couple ideas, always tell them you'll never go back there, spread the word on what they do WRONG, name the place, heck even post it on here! Post the d@mn guys name on here. They won't ever get another chance to mess with another persons SFCs oh wait I mean exhaust again. Or if ya can't get yourself to do that, make very possible threats, like those I stated.

exhaust screw up
Well, after reading both posts i guess the 2.5 ' pipe is a screw up. this guy shoould have known the 3' collector was a nice flowmaster piece. and that the loose piece on the subs was optional i didn't know that. So, I will stop payment on the check on monday and tell them to fix it.
Thanks for all the help. and by the way the car has a massive exhaust leak too. I'm just wondering if i should take the car else where to have it repaired.

I agree, the shop should never have sodomized your car like that without asking your permission.
Take it back where you had the work done, and give them the chance to make it right before you go anywhere else. Talk to the owner/manager or whoever else is in charge, the guy who did it might have just been lazy or stoned or in a hurry to get to his main squeeze at that moment, the shop management might very well be as disgusted as you if they knew what had happened.

Exhaust screw up
Well i called the shop and informed them of the mistake and he told me no problem but the mechanic was sick. So, the next day I called and the mechanic didn't show for work. That was when I stopped the check and had the flowmaster shop here in Santa Rosa repair the exhaust. then i deducted the repair and sent the first shop another check. The car runs great again. The only problem is flowmaster shop could not get the exhaust up under the car much because of the new sub frame connectors. I am thinking of in the future cutting out some of the floor and have it tucked up under there more. If the car wasn't lowered already I wouldn't care. I only have about 8" clearance.
