Hi first post to this forum. Need some help , I have aquired a set of comp cams part # 938-16 valve springs. It was a gift so I didn't refuse, my plan is to install them on a set of vortec heads ,the problem is I cannot find out #1 what they are supposed to fit #2 if they will fit I need to know the max lift on these springs. So far the comp cam website nor master catalog has divulged it's infinite knowledge to me . If anyone could help it would be much appreciated. Thanks guys
That's a massive spring. The O.D. is such that they won't fit without machining the spring pocket and as far as I know, that may not be possible.
With 480 lbs of open pressure, they'll be hard on parts as well. Your pressed in rocker studs will suffer.
Further to that, with its large retainer, you'll probably be limited to valve lifts of less than .470" before there's contact with the valve guide. That would also require machining for a proper fit.
Not knowing what cam you intend limits any possible solutions.
That said, COMP's 26918 or 26915 beehive springs will drop in. No machining of the spring pocket or guides are necessary and lift range will easily approach .500-.550".
PAC 1219 springs are also similar in specs to the 26918.
I've done it.
Hope that provides a little insight into what you might be up against.

Comp doesnt make those anymore i dont believe. Circle track spring for a endurance solid roller or so with light valve. .625” lift max or so. You sure thats the part number and not 983-16? Which would
be a small diam single spring for mild stockish hyd roller or mostly flat tappets
