ok.. I had to have some of my exhaust customized for my new engine and headers.. It turns out the guy didn't make the pieces the right lenghts.. so I decided I will just bring him the truck once I get the rebuilt engine installed... now my question is will running a fresh engine with just headers and the xover pipe hooked up be hard on a new engine? can I run it like this on initial start and to drive it to the shop to get the rest of the exhaust hooked up?

I believe it's only bad if the header tubes are too short to where cool air can come up the tubes and burn your valves. I wouldn't see why open headers would hurt though.

 

No problems, you've plenty of tubing there to keep out cold/fresh air.

 

ok great.. yeah the headers I bought bolt to facotry xover pipe.. I will have the xover pipe but nothing after that.. probably be loud driving with that coming out in the middle of the pass side of the cab
