real traction problems

hey folks, i dont know a whole lot about my car, i bought it last june and i really love it, its a 1990 350 iroc z.... The guy i bought it from was selling it for his son, he said it had 400 + hp. I didnt really believe him, but it might.. how could i find out what mods it has i guess the only way to really tell is to get it dynoed.
i know it will blow away a 1995 350 6 speed off the line...
but anyways my problem is traction. it only has a limited slip rearend, with 373 gears and 255 60R 15 tires. there a really tall tire, but i smoke them to easy well only one. when racing on the street ill take it easy of the line but as i apply gas it starts doing a huge burnout, and by third gear i get huge back shattering wheelhop, and my car sounds like its going to fall apart with all that glass shaking and knocking, and i have to let off the gas. my result is i killed the car next to me, but i left a black mark about 100 feet down the road with two foot gaps between each time my wheel hopped.. i noticed lately that my roof has a bunch of dents in it as well as my doors, which are likely a result of this wheelhop action.

its strange but ill be going fast, but still smoking the tires at the same time, what can i do

wow, that sounds serious. I don't think you have a limited slip rearend or it may be broken. Limited slip is supposed to make both tires spin, not just one. Adding a posi or limited slip will help you. Also, you can get subframe connectors and aftermarket lower control arms to stiffen your chassis.
