modifying intake question

I have an edelbrock performer rpm intake that is setup for pre-87 heads, I need to modify it to fit my new 350. My new engine has centerbolt heads so I need to change the center 4 bolt holes. has anyone done this themselves? a few people have told me that I can just take a drill and extend the holes, is this a good idea?

I already have the intake from my last engine and I don't plan on buying another one when I can modify this one. any comments on this are welcome
