Re: How would you do this?

Are you going to rebuild the 305 and want 300+ out of that or are you willing to buy a used 350 block and build that. One of my cars use to have a 400hp 305 but it needed good heads and a pretty “big” camshaft and I revved it to 7500rpm, this was a stock bottom end, I got lucky and it never blew up, but who knows how long it would last. I now have a 350 in that car and it makes about the same power but is a much “milder” build and I feel durability is much better because I don’t need to rev that engine over 6500 to make the same power. A 305 could easily make 330hp with heads and a nice flat tappet cam.

Re: How would you do this?

From what I heard 305 could be built for that hp but torque will suffer. I prefer a 350

Buy an L31-R, have screw in studs and a spring kit installed in the heads. ZZ4 camshaft or something similiar in the 220 durationn range..Headers and full 3in exhaust. . Swap to a Holley Sniper

Re: How would you do this?

Junkyard L31 or a roller L98, stroker kit, AFR Enforcers, 220-230ish @ 0.050 cam with .500+ lift, miniram, long tubes.

And then a T56 when you crack the T5 in half on a full throttle 1-2.

I don't know where you are located but I am pulling out my L98 to do a swap. Runs great. Can hear run if you act soon.
