Hot rodded v6 4th Gen

Ok guys, i need a new vehichle. My third Gen Cannot under any circumstances be driven in the rain snow or anything else other than dry pavement, i couldnt bring myself to do it either.
So, i need a second car.
That's the bottom line.
Selling my third gen is not an option.
I've been looking into a few vehichles that get good mileage and among them are, a new cavalier (or 98+) again "new" neon, and some fords.
I was thinking, what about a 98+ v6. 4th Gen, they're making 200+ hp right? How much torque? I could drive it in the winters untill i decide to hot rod it, at which point i'll rip that motor out and slap something massive in there. They're relatively cheap and i'll be able to save on insurance and gas.

what mods are out there for the v6's? Are there any twin turbos kits? I'm assuming a yyv6 could run in the high 12's.
What parts on the 4th gen v6 are not as strong as the v8? Rear? Suspension springs.. What else.. Is it just a big waste of money in the end? I just dont want to drive something like a neon guys even though they get 43 mpg. I need a car with attitude and muscle, even though the 4th wont have muscle i can always bring my 3rd out if someone calls on me
I also need one so that i can park my 3rd and JUST work on it.
thanks in advance
Thanos

They sell a super for certain years. They also sell headers, FIPK, pulleys, injectors, you name it.. 4th Gen V6's are hot items... They run 15.5ish stock and with mods run low 14';s without a power adder.

get a lt1/ls1 car, for all the money you would sink into a 6 car it would be ALOT faster stone stock with a v-8

My 94 Z-28 gets 21 mpg. Thats pretty good if you ask me. Some v6's don't get that. Since it's pretty old (94), the insurance isn't too bad either. Oh, ask about multiple car discounts, also.

go for the 98 or newer v6 model. it will have the larger brakes that previous years and is 200hp. they are pretty damn quick for a v6 model stock and will be receptive to mods. for more info on that part go to camaroz28.com and then to the v6 section. many fast one's there. not much weak on them really.

I'd get the 98 or newer Z24 Cavalier.

pfffffffffffft. My 89 iroc gets 25mpg and it hasn't seen a rebuild.

(I appologize for that coming off as arrogant though.)

there is a guy in the mid west(can't remember were) but he is running mid 12s on a nitrous 6cyl fourthgen. TNT nirtous is about 30 min from my house and one of the owners of TNT were on the local board and was telling about a guy they sold a nitrous kit to for a v6 f-body. He was so happy with the system that he sent pics, video, and timeslips of the runs in the car. other than the N2O all he had was cold air and exhaust. that is something to think about.

I wouldn't want to lie to you and tell you it was but I wouldn't want to put much more than 125MAX to a stock V-6. When I read that thread I friggin droped my jaw. There is a guy in our F-body assocation that is running low 14s in a stock V-6 camaro. you can see the car at www.etfa.net I don't think that low 14s is bad at all out of a v-6 na car. I have even concidered getting one of these cars for a daily driver.

The performance of the newer 3800 V6 f-bodys match the thirdgen v-8s and mustangs. Very good performance for a car that you can pick up relatively cheep.

I would buy an LT1 for less then the 98+ V6. Insurance is going to be a bitch no matter what. If your concerned about insurance dont buy a 4th gen.

A friend of mine here in Chapel Hill, NC has 98 V6.. he has done all the bolt-ons etc, etc.. and has run 14.2's@95 .. and dyno'd @ 194 rwhp..

Since then.. he has done a cam..(which sounds GREAT!) and added a NX wet kit...100hp shot

Dyno the car a couple of weeks ago.. N/A he was @ 212hp/300ftlbs and on the bottle... ... 318hp/493ftlbs

So they can be quite the "sleeper" car...

Good luck!

Rick

13's na and maybe a 12 with a shot is definately nothing to laugh at. I rarely hear of imports running those times... And let's be realistic honda and all the rest put a lot more emphasis and research into their flagship 4 bangers than GM did with the v6 we're talking about.
