Tech / General EngineIs your car making a strange sound or won't start? Thinking of adding power with a new combination? Need other technical information or engine specific advice? Don't see another board for your problem? Post it here!
So i'm trying to diagnose some issues on my third gen RS V8 90 and i found the "paper clip method".
I just tried to do it but it doesn't work and my fuel injector are "vibrating" when doing so...
Is that normal?
Where the light should be displayed?
I put the wire between these two prongs, are they the good ones? I see some people talking about 6-12 and other 5-6

Just saw another post about the IAC:
"I didn't say to look for codes, I said to set the ALDL up to pull codes, turn the key on, and put a couple fingers on the IAC to make sure it's working. It'll be vibrating if it's at least trying to work. Setting the ALDL for codes does a couple things besides blinking the SES light... Turns on the radiator fan, closes off emissions solenoids (or does it open them? Either way, the ECM does the reverse of what's normally done KOEO) on the EGR and charcoal canister, and the ECM also closes off the IAC passage by extending the pintle inside the IAC (which is why the ALDL is jumpered for about 10 seconds before the IAC is disconnected to set the base idle speed)."
So the sound is normal
I'm back!
So my leds doesn't have polarities, that's a plus.
The paper clip method works but i only have the code 12 showing....
And my "infl" light is always showing... (right to "engine maintenance")
At the moment, it start and run well until 30 secs when the motor starts to get hot and at that moment the idle start to drop and the car stops 20 secs later.
I can accelerate without problems.
So for the "infl rest' light, what can i do?
Oh and on an other note, my temp and gas gage are not working =(
I will try to diagnose the temp sensor if you know how to look for.
And for the gas.. i duno, my pump is brand new.
Until it is running reliably, the air bag (Infl Rest) lamp being on would be a secondary concern. SIR/air bag faults should have no bearing on engine operation, and the only potential common problems affecting both simultaneously would be power and ground wiring.
