Help identifying Crate Motor

Trying to determine WHAT exactly this motor is. I was sold this motor in a lot of parts that I purchased for my parts business. I was told it was a ZZ4 crate motor. BUT I see alot of things that tell me otherwise.

I know ZZ4 motors are typically Hydraulic Roller.

Flat tappet lifters
Comp Cam 14336
Head castings 14096217
5.7 LG SGI block with casting # 10243880
Pistons inside are stamped H631CP-STD (so they are standard bore) Other part # on pistons is 15014-04-C

Motor is very fresh, very clean. Looks like it has never been ran. The valves are not lashed and its missing the freeze out plug that normally goes behind the Camshaft.

The zz3-4 had 113 heads not 14096217, your block is setup from roller as well iirc 880 is a truck block used in vortec head 96 or so. If you stay with the flat tappet cam use valvoline vr1.

Re: Help identifying Crate Motor

I like the welded up heat crossover ports in the heads..thats super special
That alone makes me not think those are 'crate' products.

Re: Help identifying Crate Motor

It's not one of the ZZ motors, but looks like probably one of GM Performance crate motors from a while back. Probably something like 285-300hp rating.

Re: Help identifying Crate Motor

Is it possible what he is looking at is a GM Goodwrench motor? I bought a Goodwrench motor (350/260hp) motor some years back. Then I took it apart and installed a comp camshaft, alum Trick Flow heads, etc.
