Motor will not take base timing
Motor will not take base timing
I hope you guys can help me out with this one:
'92 3.1 MPFI Auto Camaro:
The motor does not like to run at correct base timing. When the (new) dist. is pulled back to the correct timing on the balancer, the motor dies. It likes to run at 1000-1200 rpms at over 20 degs of timing. I've tried resetting the dist in the motor, but it still does the same thing. Sometimes the engine stays running at that timing, but it kicks and sputters. If it dies, it will not restart, unless I pull the timing back again.
I'm timing the engine with the ALDL terminals A&B grounded to set the base timing and the balancer does not look like it has slipped on the collar.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
