Bad, Bad day...
This blue haired beotch turn in front of my girlfriend (MrsLottaBallsCamaro) today and our IROC tboned her . It was totally the other lady's fault, but our beautiful car has its whole front end tweaked. It is shifted to the right. The auto body shop says its about 1500-2000 dollars to fix. We are devastated. Its like having one of your kids break their leg or something. It just makes you want to cry.
The front of the hood is slightly bent and the back left of it has the paint chipped. Should they be required to paint the whole hood or just touch up the chips?

They had better paint the whole thing. If your child breaks their leg, they don't just put a bandaid on it. Now insurance companies don't see it that way, but mention court and I think they will agree rather quickly to a respray.
From your description I would say that the estimate is low. Show no mercy on the repainting and body work- make sure that there is proper blending and accept no aftermarket parts. Real replacement stuff is too cheap for them to pull that scam. Get more estimates and go to shops that aren't cheap for them. I have been through this process, and if you have a Police Report that shows her totally at fault you are in a good position to demand proper repair! You also need to work on getting a rental car from them while your car is in the shop ( or at the very least re-imbursement for your costs obtaining one). Also some problems may not be evident until you have removed the front bumper cover plastic.
Good luck, it is still a major PITA even if they come to you begging :-).

I'd say the esitmate is low too... I had a buddy who's 88 Formula got nailed on the front right in a parking lot. Cost him nearly a grand, and that was just a bumper job and a touch of fender work. I'd imagine they should be responsible to pay for whatever it costs to make it look like new... If you have a body shop that's good enough to paint the damaged areas and make it look seemeless, more power to ya. But i doubt it, they'll probably wind up paintin the whole hood. Insurance SHOULD cover it, but knowing them, you're probably going to be in the hole for the difference...
I failed to mention that she got a failure to yeild right of way ticket and I had two witnesses that gave written statements to the police confirming that she pulled right in front of me. I just want to cry thinking about my poor baby (the IROC) being hurt. The beotch is with an insurance company for high risk people, so I guess it's no surprise to them that she got into an accident.
I sure as hell better get a rental car. The only problem with the rental car is that I am only 19, and most rental car companies in my state won't rent to anyone under 21. Also, I want a comparable rental car, so they better not try to give me a Neon or Cavalier to drive.
The damage is a lot worse than I initially thought when I saw it right after the accident. The front bumper is broken in numerous places, I got both fog lights broken, one turn signal broken, the hatch is misaligned, the right fender is dented, the whole front end of the car (nose, fenders) has been pushed back and to the right about a 1/2". I just want my baby to get fixed up and looking great again! The body shop that I am taking it to is really good, so I trust them to do it right. I am going to make sure that only genuine GM parts get put on my baby and I will damn sure try to get the hood sprayed. All this damage and I was only going 25mph!

strip it, junk it, and get a new car, messing with a car with severe body damage is worthless, expecially if its chassis damage, it will never be the same agian, and if for some reason you decite to sell it someday if you get it fixed that big accident will be on any carfax or title track making the value plunge.

Jeez man. Who cares if you get a "comparable" rental car? As long as it's clean and gets you where you need to go, and you're not paying for it, take it.
And about any insurance settlement: if they try to screw you anywhere, don't relent. Just remember, it's their responsibility to return the car to the state that it was in before the accident. I got screwed on a $250 strut they didn't want to replace because it had over 100k miles on it. I didn't really argue about it, but I should have (hindsight's a bitch), because the damn thing was fine before that girl ran the redlight and farked it up.
Now, I'm an insurance company's worst nightmare. I have recipts, dates, labor, everything for anything remotely related to my car.
