How do you know you have a charging problem? How do you know that both the alternator and battery are good?
Does your Alternator (maybe still labelled "Choke", don't know if it still was in your year) light on your dash come on when you turn the key to "on" with the engine not running?

i had the battery tested and the alternator tested after i bought it. No i dont get any lights on the dash. I have had the charging system tested at autozone and the alternator is not putting out any voltage. The meter was reading the battery voltage. Thanks for any help. Richard

Replace the light bulb. Without it, the alternator will never "know" that the key is on - the little trickle of battery that starts it up comes through the bulb, so if the bulb is bad, the alternator never starts.
i do not have a choke light i have a check engine light and i believe that comes on when i start the car and goes off when it starts. I will look in the morning, i have the dash apart right now cause i am wire chasing trying to find where the third wire goes. Thanks

You should have a choke light, it may not be visible without a bulb, I had an upshift light that I never knew about until I was cleaning the dash one day. Is the alternator squeeling or anything, or is just the gauge inside the car reading low, they're known not to be that accurate. Have you replaced the belt to the alternator recently, is it totally tight?
