Bad pining
Bad pining
Any help would be appreciated
I,ve had my camaro for about three months and i have just been
fixing a few things before registration. The owner before me had it sitting in his warehouse for over two years (never started it).
Anyway i,ve driven it 9 or 10 times since i,ve had it and if you are just cruising along it is fine. The problem is as soon as you put your foot down in any gear(auto) it starts to ping real BAD.Could it be fuel pump, injectors need to be cleaned, timing or just new plugs, leads, cap and rotor from sitting so long.
Or any common problem these cars had with pinging.
Thanks
Jeff.

make sure you have decent gas in there
you want to use the lowest octane you can without the car pinging
also check your timing and make sure that is on the mark
does the car just ping or are there other things it will do also

my first guess was bad gas. but since thats not it, check the spark timing. mine started to ping pretty bad a few weeks back. i checked everything out, and it turned out that the distributor hod down bracket had loosened itself up and the distributer turned and messed up the timing. hope this helps. later
