lt4 hot cam in my 305

hey guys i am switchin my 305 TBI over to carburation. i will be going with a 650-750 holley, edelbrock performer intake,MSD ignition box, blaster 2 coil, Acell dist. and of course the mallory 3 port regulator. my question to u is with a 3.73 rear end and headers and full exhaust would the LT4 hot cam be to much? the normal LT4 is just to small. i am lookin for the most performance i can get. the specs for the hot cam are .492/.492 lift, 218/228 @50 duration with a 112 lobe sep. . If i did go with this cam wut kind of problems do u think i would run into? i think for a 305 it will be a good race cam. if i decide to go with heads later i think i will have a pretty mean little 305. well i am open to suggestion so please help me out as much as u can. thanks

I'd say it's too big. It's not to big to idle or be streetable, but it'll be past the useable powerband of a 305. Go for something 8-10 degrees smaller.

I'm moving this to the general tech board.
