PIC...anybody ever use this?
It's called an electrolytic coating or something like that and you apply it to your lifter valley. A couple people recommended this to me so I tried it. I haven't had the intake off since it's been running so I don't know how its holding up. Nothing in my oil or oil filter though so it must be allright.
It's called General Electric Glyptal enamel. It is a high dielectric insulating paint. It seals porosity well, which is one of the byproducts of its insulating capabilities. As of about two years ago, it was still available. It used to be the hot ticket for painting engines internally,

I believe that people paint the lifter valleys to aid in oil drainback. I don't know if it helps or not but it probably coundn't hurt. and it does look good

Vader I'm pretty sure Glyptal is still available. Doesn't Eastwood sell it? What benifits would you even get from using it, especially in a street driven car?

That is what I would like to know! Is it just for the oil drainback effect or does the insulation of the lifter valley not transfer heat to the intake manifold?

Thanks Vader, I knew I didn't get the name right. I was told It helps keep heat in the combustion chamber so not as much transfers to the intake by a local sprint car engine builder..
I think it helps with drainback too. I smoothed out the entire lifter valley with a die grinder so it looks and feels real good. It got rid of a lot of stock casting flash.
