92 Z28 vs. 2001 Cavalier Z24

My best friend Greg has a 1992 Camaro Z-28 with a 5.7, 350 overhead valve engine, 5 Speed Manual, Mods: Dynomax catback exhaust, K&N Air Filter.
AND! My girlfriend just bought a 2001 Cavalier Z-24, I got sick and tired of her talking about how fast her four banger is, Just cuz it's new doesn't mean it's good, She's got the chrome rims, rear spoiler, chrome exhaust tip, sunroof, she thinks she's fast. Well I decided to shut her mouth the one day. Her and Greg went to the quarter mile place about 5 or 6 miles from my house, I went with Greg, Well my other friend had a 94 Dodge Shadow ES, He flashed his headlights, And my Greg absolutley demolished her from the start to the end, He must have beaten her by 10-15 car lengths, She was mad at me the rest of the night though, Cuz I have a 86 Camaro 2.8 with the same mods as Greg, I beat her the same night with my Camaro by about 7-8 car lengths. She had a 4 spd overdrive auto tranny, Tomorrow my other friend in the Shadow is gonna race her, He has a 3.0, V6, 5-Speed.

All my girlfriend has is a puny 2.4, DOHC, I-4

I thought the new GM 4-cyl was a 2.2... it's actually a pretty bitchin' motor, in its own way. I'll never dig the OHC stuff, and I wouldn't buy any car with a 4 cyl- but still, they wrung 750 hp out of it, which ain't half bad. (Sure, that's the alky-gulping, drag-race-only, turbo version, but still. I've seen Rat motors make less power.)

Your girlfriend has been afflicated with "domestic rice".
The cure for this disease is rare, but i think you and your friends may have found it to save her. Selling that cavalier and buying something faster will result in her complete recovery from this tragic illness....

Of course those rat motors, of which you speak of, aren't the "alky-gulping, drag race only, turbo versions".

The shadow will be killed. I don't even know why you asked. I'm stupid, I thought you said if the shadow will beat the z28! I don't know, I think the shadow should win. Oh, nevermind scratch that. The z24 will beat the shadow. The shadow from what I read on carpoint.com at it's best only made like 100 hp. The z24 makes like 150. She will win.

i dont mean to be a party pooper, but i see a few things wrong with this : 1st) did your friend swap in that 5 speed? cause a factory 350 3rd gen never came with a manual... 2nd) i cant see a 2.8L with only cat back and a K&N beating a DOHC Cavalier (let alone by 7-8 lengths!). the 2.4L is good for high 15s, and your car stock is stuck in the 17s

Agreed, but you missed a 3 inconsistency.

The 5.7 only beat her by about 10-15, yet his 2.8 beat her by about 7-8. I really doubt that's 350, then again the 5spd/305 G92 was just as quick. Not sure. Was his car running bad?

Kind of rough on your girl aren't you. I know when anyone thinks my car is slow, I just drop it into 1st, hit the gas slightl but quick, and let off, it'll jerk them back in the seat, something they're not used to.

My Grand Am has the same engine its a 2.4 twin cam. I know for a fact that I would kill any lightly modded/stock V6 third gen out there (excluding the :hail: TTA). And, my Grand Am is heavier then the Z24. I've never had my GA to the track, but it the numbers I've seen show it running low 16's. The lighter Z24 should run high 15's. I'm not saying you didn't beat her, but it wasn't because she had the slower car.

Mr. Camaro don't know how to drive then, He should have whipped that Crapalier's ***. If my 2.8 could do it, Then his 305 can

I'd be quite suprised if your 2.8 could run a 15.4 1/4 mile.

Are you giving up your old name 85CamaroRulz? Man, if you see a girl across the street and she looks at you and runs inside terrified because you've got your hand down your pants staring at her, that doesn't mean she's your girlfriend. Why would you side with your "friend" Greg instead of your girl anyway, retard?

Sorry iroc.

You know as I started reading this post, I was like hold up. Just goes to prove the point that this kid is an even bigger idiot.
There's always a 92 Z 350 in the picture, never realized it was one of a kind 5spd.

true enough. I never even thought an lt5 would fit under the hood of a 3rd gen, I guess it could with a cowl.

This story is VERY familiar......It's always a 92 350 5 speed, 4 banger cavalier and a shadow ES. Very familiar indeed.

IC, it was brought back from the dead for some strange reason.

Yep, and you don't need a cowl induction hood. If they can fit it under the hood of a C4, it can fit under the hoot of a thirdgen.
