friend claims Geo Storm is fast? i disagree. please read

me and my friend are arguing about like his Geo Storm that he's working on.....he keeps on saying that its a really fast car and yaddayadda yadda......i think differently....lol

four4875: sup?
speedingpenguin: hey haha you gotta work lol
speedingpenguin: ;-P)
four4875: **** off...
four4875: lol
speedingpenguin: lol
speedingpenguin: hey i'd love to have a job.....i have no $$ lol
four4875: hehe
four4875: and you arent gettin ready to put a new motor in a car, either
four4875: thats really gonna suck for me
speedingpenguin: lol
speedingpenguin: but i'm saving all my $$ to buy the car that i'm gonna put the new motor AND transmission AND interior AND paint AND sterio AND everything :-)
four4875: lol
speedingpenguin: :-P
four4875: my trany is OK but im gonna put in a new clutch
speedingpenguin: my camaro will rip up your storm :-D
speedingpenguin: hehe
four4875: i dunno about that ;-)
speedingpenguin: hahaha
four4875: ya see.... the storm aint a geo at heart. it's an isuzu with GEO stamped on it
speedingpenguin: well if things go to plan, this baby will have around 470 HP and about the same number for torque, not sure about gears yet, but its most likely gonna be going through a Borg Warner T56 6 speed... :-D
speedingpenguin: sorry to break it to ya, but Izuzu's arent HP machines either lol
four4875: but mine will out handle yours
four4875: :-P
speedingpenguin: maybe not :-)
four4875: hehehe
speedingpenguin: 17x9.5 ZR1 rims, drag radial tires, Thunder Racing's complete lowering package, full roll cage for extra strength, all HP control arms, etc, etc, etc. lol
speedingpenguin: gotta go....breakfast
four4875: lol mne will prolly get a 2 inch lower

Auto response from speedingpenguin: I am away from my computer right now.

four4875: redoin the back suspension to disk brakes and with sway bars
four4875: and of course strut toer braces.
speedingpenguin: lol
speedingpenguin: i'm gonna have C5 brakes all around :-D
four4875: ope....
four4875: tower* ^
four4875: and where do you plan on getting all of this $$$ from?
speedingpenguin: its not too much $$, and i'm gonna work my *** off and sell everything i have ;-) haah
speedingpenguin: probably about 800 for the car.....
four4875: lol
speedingpenguin: 2500 for the crate engine off eBay
speedingpenguin: between 600 and 1000 for the transmission
speedingpenguin: 400something for the hood
speedingpenguin: lets say 800 for tools and paint (gonna do it all myself)
speedingpenguin: 700 for brakes/suspension (eBay mostly)
speedingpenguin: 800 for the interior.....
four4875: see.... im gonna have like 300 into the motor
four4875: lets see... 179 for the header i'll put on it
speedingpenguin: lol
speedingpenguin: the header=a little PVC piping....lol
speedingpenguin: nah after a few years it would start to melt...
speedingpenguin: so you should go with copper water piping from a plumbing store...
speedingpenguin: :-{
speedingpenguin: *:-P
four4875: haha... i think it's hilarious how people think storms are the typical 3 cylinder metro....
speedingpenguin: are you trying to say that theyre not?
four4875: yeah i am
speedingpenguin: lol
speedingpenguin: ITS A GEO!
four4875: forum.stormowners.com
four4875: no it's an isuzu
four4875: with geo stamped on it
speedingpenguin: are you trying to say that isuzu's are better than geos?
speedingpenguin: they are, but not by much
speedingpenguin: lol
four4875: read that forum a little... people there all hate it how people consider the storm another 80 HP 3 cylinder metro
speedingpenguin: what does it do 0-60 in?
four4875: a stock one?
four4875: not sure
speedingpenguin: find out
speedingpenguin: what about a modded one
four4875: but i do know a stock GSI ran the quarter in 16 i believe
four4875: how heavily modded... lol
speedingpenguin: whatever
four4875: torbo conversion? or just bolt on headers and intake and ****
speedingpenguin: anything
four4875: i dunno.... havnt really looked at times that much
four4875: i know mine buried its spedo with its old motor
four4875: that's smaller and revs lower than the one thats goin in
speedingpenguin: lolololol
four4875: so 130 MPH will be easy
speedingpenguin: you still think that a storm is a fast car lol
four4875: yeah
speedingpenguin: lol
four4875: faster than alot of the **** around here
four4875: and cheaper, too
speedingpenguin: do you mind if i post this convo on a camaro forum?
speedingpenguin: just to see what other people say?
four4875: sure why not
speedingpenguin: i can get rid of your name if ya want...or whatever
speedingpenguin: lol
four4875: i dont care
speedingpenguin: i just have a hard time believing that a geo storm is fast lol
speedingpenguin: okay

Please pardon me if i got any camaro tech stuff a little wrong.....i was in a hurry cause i had to go.....lol and i'm still learning ;-)

Your gonna buy a crate engine off ebay?

If they say 470hp, then it's probably like 350hp. And if your buddy can get around 225hp into that little storm, that little econo car will eat you up.

Good luck in your futures mods, I think you'll need 2 jobs for all you listed.

how do i plan to pay for all the stuff? number one: get a job and work as much as possible. number two, do stuff around the house for my mom (10 bucks and hour or more depending on the work), number three (which i'm already doing) sell anything that has any value that i dont need (i.e. drumset that hasnt been used in years, guitar effects pedal i dont use, etc.), and number four.....my father and my uncles and aunt are moving all the stuff out of my grandparents old house (grandma doesnt live there any more) and since noones really moving or has any interest in most of the stuff in the basement, i have been given permission to take it and sell it on eBay and keep all the $$. This suff is old.....alot of china and glass plates and stuff, old furnature that has barely been used.....alot of VERY old stuff that hasnt been touched in a VERY long time=a nice chunk of money.
As for the eBay crate engine, i said 'AROUND', meaning between 450 and 500....i also said i was going to do ALL the work myself, and i mean that.....everything.....dont worry, when its done i'll post pics

Then I wanted to know exactly how much power the car looses when you turned the A/C on...

A/C 1/4 ET: 19.63

Does this time sound about right for a stock GSi auto? I ended up breaking out in the first round. What do you guys think I could run with a Turbo w/ about 5-7 psi boost? "

But, for a nice econo-box type of car, I prefer the styling over a Civic, for sure.

Hey, don't laugh. Storms are fast for what they are. Of course, they're no match for V8 powered cars, but compared to other 4 cylinder/small v6 cars they are pretty quick. They are only powered by 1.6L motors. If you could jam a v8 in one it would be an impressive car.

They are light. Here's a good size comparion.

now this is funny!

Tom Fletcher's 1990 Geo Storm

2439 visitors have dropped by Tom Fletcher's page.
Performance Modifications

8.97 sec @149mph in quarter
Full moly tube frame
2130 lbs w/driver
765 hp small block Chevy on methanol
Power glide trans w/trans brake
12 bolt Chevy rear w/ 5.14 gears

this guy that said his car is fast was a joke! anyone can build a tube framed car and put a yugo skin on it! is it close to stock? NO what a super DORK! just goes to show how lame some are that they have to say something stupid like Bobby's Geo is faster than your camaro! Stock Vs. Stock or Modded Vs. Modded but not race car vs. stock/street. what a LAMO

So whats left of that car thats a Geo for me to be impressed from??? Everything moving that car could be in any mucle car.

Fact is they're a econo car not a muscle car. 2 completly different cars for diferent puposes and people. It's like comparing an apple to an orange ffs.

I think we should leave them alone. and not start a flame war with the storm guys. lets not lower ourselves. I am getting a kick at their post. and they are getting a kick at ours. we both have different mind sets. I def don't get theirs. the whole thing about fabing your own stuff I do get. but in the end it is still just a storm. and def dumping $5000 into a car to go from 19 sec to 15 sec I digress, lets leave the talk on this board and not theirs. They have aleady said that they are not coming over here. flame wars get ugly, and they prove nothing.

I'm not interested in letting this war of Camaro vs. Storm continue on.

As far as looks go that's up to a persons own taste.

Now with this "Fletcher's Storm" that is the symbol for all Storms out there; what really get's me is that it's powered by Chevy. Yet they are knocking Chevy Camaros. Go figure.

With the handling issue what I am baffled by is the fact that most IROC's are sitting at .90-.93 G's stock. That's less than the Storm? I've never heard of a Storm tested by a magazine that has hit anywhere higher than mid .85's. I think the comparsion to Camaro's they are making are the base model or Berlinetta Camaros that have the narror 215/65R15 tires, tiny sway bars and mushy shocks.

All in all this isn't worth continuing then. If your interested in conversing with the Storm owners go hop on over there and keep it civil. Remember you are representing F-Body owners as a whole.
